The Gate of “Alcáçova”, also known as “Arco do Miradeiro”, is an arch of the primitive wall of the city of Elvas facing south-east. It was built during the Islamic rule of the then Yalbash.
It consists of a straight entrance door, flanked by two massive and slightly protruding towers, in a quadrangular shape. In its construction, granite stones were used, which were used from previous possibly Roman constructions.
Originally it had a horseshoe arch with an angle greater than 180º that was modified in 1887.
