Pillory and Santa Clara Arch

Built in the period of Romantic architecture (19th century) by Dr. Santa Clara, an important scholar of the time.
Initially this arch was called “Tempra” Gate, in reference to a battle of knights of the Order of the Temple against the Moors, having breached the wall on this side. It is a legendary episode, typical of the time, hence the scenic construction of this arch.
The probable original door of the 1st Arab belt, is located inside the courtyard adjacent to the arch and can be seen through an iron gate.
